Small Town Natural: Where to hike in Haliburton County, ON, Canada (Part 5: Frost Centre)

This park land is found along Hwy 35 between Minden and Dorset, Ontario, Canada. Approximately 11 km of trails. This Canadian Shield terrain can be challenging with steep climbs and large rocks and large tree roots. You need to be a sure footed hiker to traverse these trails. Not recommended for people with heart conditions or mobility issues. Some of the trails provide beautiful views of St. Nora Lake as you can see in these photos. There are lookout spots along the trails with natural seating provided by the large rocks. There is one bench located at the top of a steep climb that overlooks the vast mixed forest sitting in full sun. Expect to spend at least 2 hours hiking here. To truly appreciate the trails here you should aim to spend 4 hours here (not including your driving time to+ from the parking lot). The Frost Centre is also part of the Haliburton Highlands Water Trail system too! Fun for paddling and camping.

Note* Snowshoe these trails in Winter or park across the road and nordic ski the snowmobile groomed classic ski trails. These are track set. There are no skate ski lanes at Frost Centre.
