Small Town Natural: Float your boat! Minden's Gull River is great fun for everyone!
Anyone who lives in or near Minden knows of the Gull River floaty summer obsession!
The Gull River flows through the village of Minden, Ontario, Canada. This river has a mild current that will pull you through town with no effort from you. Hundreds of people hop on floaties of all shapes and sizes to do the lazy river float ever summer! To maximize the float time you should have two vehicles. Park one in the village of Minden at the take out spot (across the street from the Post Office) just before the main bridge (in above photo) in town. There is a very long and large dock with ladders for swimmers and floaters to use to exit the river. Park one car near the take out spot leaving your flip flops and towels in that car. Then..
Drive everyone back to the Rotary Park (almost directly across the hwy 35 from Kawartha Dairy). Get your floaties ready (and put cell phones+car key fobs) in waterproof containers. Then launch your floaty and have a fun ride with the current down river to the town bridge. Lots of great places to grab a bite to eat after your float (I recommend you try EAT! at 8 Milne Street).
Be sure to stop by Ommmh and EAT! 8 Milne Street to buy your Minden River Float T-Shirt! This T-Shirt was a collaborative design that Ommmh owner and I created to promote all that is wonderful about the small town of Minden!
